Is The Pope’s Exorcist A true story?

The film is based on the real reports of Father Gabriele Amorth, who was awarded the title of Chief Exorcist of the Vatican by none other than the Pope. During his time exorcising demons from the living, Father Amorth said he performed over 100,000 exorcisms. His story was so popular and fascinating that he shared his stories with the world in several books and was even the subject of the 2017 documentary The Devil and Father Amortha project The Exorcist director William Friedkin. Although Father Amorth performed an unimaginable amount of exorcisms during his lifetime, he always remained true to the belief that most often the answer lies in mental illness and not demonic possession.
