Dune: Part 2 costume designer Jacqueline West teases expanded, visually stunning worlds

The world or worlds of dune are about to expand later this year Denis Villeneuve‘s upcoming sequel that promises more cinematic action than its beloved predecessor. One of the creative directors behind both films, Jacqueline WestHow much, she is already saying Dune: Part 2 will fill the universe and the worlds inhabiting it. During a master class for the Doha Film Institute in Qatar, the costume designer delved into her previous projects and spoke about the intense working environment of the sequel, as well as how it grows and creates a visually distinct universe to explore in depth.
Although the first dune While portraying Arrakis was already a massive undertaking, West noted that the sequel was far more intense, especially for a costume designer. The sequel will take its time exploring Giedi Prime’s Harkonnen planet and the world of the Emperor so viewers can finally get started Christopher WalkenFace to Emperor Shaddam IV’s name. To give all of these worlds their own distinct styles and cultures, West says, “We did a lot of costumes.” Bringing life to life, especially the youngest contender for best actor Austin Butler in the role of Feyd-Rautha and said:
“In Second partYou really immerse yourself in the different worlds of dune. We see what the Emperor’s world looks like. We go to his planet. We spend a lot of time on Giedi Prime, the planet of Harkonnen. We spend a lot of time in it Stellan Skarsgard’S [Vladimir Harkonnen] World. Feyd-Rautha [Harkonnen] comes in this one too, brilliantly played by Austin Butlerelvis. He’s pretty fabulous at that.”
Butler plays a particularly important role in the story as he celebrates his legendary rivalry with Paul Atreides (timothy Chalamet). come off elvishe is asked to steal the scene again against some high profile rising stars like Chalamet, Florence PughAnd zendaya. Dune: Part 2however, is something completely new to him that will push his acting skills to the limit.
Dune: Part 2 Will visually expand everything about the sci-fi universe
Again, West points out that the graphics will take a big step forward Dune: Part 2. dune was already an Oscar darling and received six awards including best cinematography, but the expanded scope of the sequel requires a lot more work to create diverse settings and costumes befitting a vast sci-fi universe. West highlights how every aspect of the visuals will contribute to the build dune‘s world and adds:
All worlds are expanded. It was about creating three separate, different looking worlds and also reviving the Bene Gesserits, the ancient ones with these costumes that look almost like Egyptian mummies. I think it’s visually stunning, the sets, the cinematography and the concepts.
Dune: Part 2 will pick up where its predecessor left off and cover the second half Frank Herbert‘s legendary science fiction novel. Filming was completed in December Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier BardemAnd David Bautista even under the massively star-studded cast. The movie isn’t the only way the franchise will grow, either. a prequel series, Dune: The SisterhoodShe started filming in November Emily Watson, Shirley HendersonAnd Indira Varma headlining the cast.
